A big hi and hello to all of you out there! Thank you for stopping by Jenny Sun Photography's blog! This is my brand new blog space! So please make yourself at home, and have a good browse around. There is plenty more to come so check back often :) Just in case any of you are wondering who on earth I am, my name is Jenny Sun. I own a photography company that spans across Australia and Malaysia, particularly in the Sydney and Kuala Lumpur regions respectively. Though I'm not restricted to those areas! :) I love photographing just about anything under the sun, but my particular passion is for weddings and portraits - I seriously LOVE people, their stories, the beautiful relationships formed, and the tales that are told when that shutter goes off!

This blog is my personal and visual journey along this path of photography. Please hop on board the ride, comment along the way (I shamelessly love comments!), and lets see where the wind takes us :)

New Headers

Hello my beautiful blog readers! :D

It's a monday, and I'm sitting in the aftermath of a weekend (wait, I meant a WEEK) that felt like I was blown around by a level 5 tornado, then thrown smack bang back onto the ground like a cat that fell in the drain. It's been a bit of a mad run, and I have about 3 days left before the next round of insanity begins again :)

So needless to say, I've been dashing between all things as fast and best as I can, like Mr speedy gonzalas here. But he wins. If I could steal his swiftly ways, I totally would. Then lock them in a bag so no one else can keep up with me. LOL!

Anyhow, if you have not noticed already, this blog has undergone a tiny little cosmetic change :) The fabulous JingKai from Krizalis, has been the whiz behind the new comment boxes you have been enjoying with every post, and also the newly added flash header you see at the top of the page! I have been wanting to update the thing for a year, and finally sent through some of my favourite images to be created into one! And in a blink of an eye (like a day later), it was made and gve birth to the cyber world :)

If any of you need any web needs, please contact JingKai! :) He works as fast as Mr Speedy Gonzalas and his after sales service is impeccable! :)

Enjoy the new header!

I'll be back tomorrow with a blog post (OR TWO if you guys are lucky!) with some pretty pictures and shoots :)

Here is a sneak peak to what I will be posting tomorrow:

2008 AIM Nomination

As the clock graced into the later slice of the night, the phone vibrated and sung its ever familiar tone. Startled, and puzzled as to why anyone would want to contact me at this time of the evening, I picked up the call in an almost sloth-like fashion.

"What? Are you serious??!" Was what I exclaimed when the news raced into my disbelieving ears. Partly swept across by excitement, a more generous part of my inner self was just in pure shock. The news had meant that the all the hard work, had paid off. After 8, had been nominated for best album cover at the upcoming AIM 2008 awards, and we discovered the next day at the official AIM press conference that it took along with it 2 other nominations (best engineered album and best english album - NOT that I dipped my hand in these latter two categories. Other talents were behind those).

That being said,I'm not usually one to be caught in a frenzy of crazed excitement (I'm not really one to count my chickens before they hatch), but it was hard not to sneak in a ray of positive goodness...a smile :)

Anyhow, if you remember this post, you'll remember that I shot the photos that went into the album of an up and coming artist "Liang", and then delved into crafting the packaging/design for the sophomore release of the R&B musician. Now that AIM have officially put it up on their website, I can actually share with you all the good news! The album got nominated for Best Album Design along with 4 other contenders. For those who are not familiar with the AIMs, especially you aussies reading this - The AIMs are like Malaysia's version of the ARIAs (which is the national music awards ceremony for Australia).

Look, its official!

I know I promised photos of what came out as the end product, but that will have to wait til tomorrow when natural light paints its way back into my day :)

Just getting my head around it is pretty crazy, but more realistically - incredibly humbling. To know that work that I've done is actually being recognized OUTSIDE of the photography industry really is a different feeling altogether (don't get me wrong, its always wonderful to be recognized within our industry for work we have done, but to know that others outside of this circle see it too is really something else!). That being said, on a side and related note, all the work that I do is never done alone.... firstly, in everything, I can never ever forget my heavenly Father. I have realized through each and every job, that He has his hands dipped into my work, and to see how he has delicately spun and woven the way the job has come together be it through the accidental way I meet up with certain people, or how I am somehow (and sometimes I still don't know how?!) able to work through crazy challenges that absolutely baffle and terrify me, or given me what I need to do the job at just the right time, and so on, I am reminded time and time again that everything I do is not of my own. I think if anyone asked what the secret ingredient is to JSP, I'd say 150%, its Him.

Anyway enough of my babbling (sorry! did I mention before that I can be terrible long-winded? :p), for now, I just wanted to say a really hearty thank you to xj for helping me create the images I had in my head and turn them into reality so I could shoot them and not just think of them!, and to the artist, Liang himself for trusting me with such a big job and giving me the opportunity in the first place! Hope you get your wish! Anyhow, to everyone reading, do drop by Liang's official website to check out his music and support his tunes! :)

ps: Full wedding posts coming really soon. I do mean it!! I know I've been a stinking awfully bad blogger lately, but I am trying to redeem myself haha! :)

pps: It has been, and it will be even more so, an insane and crazy period over the next few weeks so do bear with me as I try to keep on top of blogging as best as I can, and replying all your lovely emails - its incredible how many of you write in each day! You're training this girl here to be the fastest ever touch typer around!! haha :) Adios for now! And yes, I will post those pictures tomorrow. If I don't, someone please whack me on the head ;)

EDIT: As promised, here are some photos :

Happy friday everyone! :)

Full

Dear friends!

I'm just writing to inform all of you that my production quota and schedule for wedding invitation designs/production is, as of today, full up until March 2008. I will, unfortunately not be accepting any more orders until April of next year. Thank you for your support since this leg of my work was lauched! I love being able to create what is to become a centerpiece of information for your wedding day, and I can't wait til I can resume designing them again next year!

On another note, I have to apologize that this blog has become somewhat malnourished as of late. There has been so much to blog about, so many things to put up and show, however it's been really crazy in the JSP headquarters in the last few weeks! Tonnes of late nights, extensive co-ordination of various photoshoots (I've been feeling like a producer somewhat of late!), long hours in front of the computer, plenty of typing (with the number of emails fired off each day, I think my touch-typing is developing from non-existent to visible!), and a growing friendship with energy-bosting drinks has pretty much been the norm these last few weeeks. But hurrah! last night was my first night off - I got to catch a movie (Transformers! It was worth the hype!), and sleep a good 10 hours :)

Back to work today though! Photos, here I come!
