A big hi and hello to all of you out there! Thank you for stopping by Jenny Sun Photography's blog! This is my brand new blog space! So please make yourself at home, and have a good browse around. There is plenty more to come so check back often :) Just in case any of you are wondering who on earth I am, my name is Jenny Sun. I own a photography company that spans across Australia and Malaysia, particularly in the Sydney and Kuala Lumpur regions respectively. Though I'm not restricted to those areas! :) I love photographing just about anything under the sun, but my particular passion is for weddings and portraits - I seriously LOVE people, their stories, the beautiful relationships formed, and the tales that are told when that shutter goes off!

This blog is my personal and visual journey along this path of photography. Please hop on board the ride, comment along the way (I shamelessly love comments!), and lets see where the wind takes us :)

Anyhow, to brighten up your thursday, I'm going to blog completely out of order and share here a sweet sweet engagement session, with a slight pixie like feel :) Thank you Selena and Ben for letting me document your love! It's so beautiful to see a friend of mine grow up and now get married! Sel, I'm so happy to see God bring you two together. My prayer is that you continue to grow in Him, and let Him use you mightily for His big plans and purposes :) ps: Selena - I still have my eye on your gorgeous pixie dress! hehe! :P

Enjoy my favourites from their quick session in front of the lens with me! :D OH and just a side note, we were really lucky with the sun and light that day - it kept playing hide and seek and popping in and out, in and out a million times, so thank you Ben and Sel for being so patient with me and the weird weather! :D xx

I LOOOOOVE Selena's dress!! It's so different and pretty! :D

Really really adore the next two frames, but couldn't pick which one I liked better. Your thoughts? :)

Lastly, probably my favourite shot from the session :D

Have a lovely day ahead everyone!!

Inspiration Board: A Sip Of Summer

Mood boards, inspiration palettes, and brainstorming canvases... these things are not new to me. As someone who studied and practiced design for years before I was a photographer, we used to churn these things out day in day out as we undertook our projects to help us think more creatively and to keep all our random ideas tied to the original theme. Now, as a wedding photographer, I can't emphasize enough the importance of these things, and I can't encourage my brides enough to really let their imaginations and creative juices run loose while planning their wedding by doing an inspiration board.

Inspiration boards really help to tie in all the pretty little details and visual aspects of their big day together in a beautiful cohesive theme, so that at the end of it all, you get a gorgeous wedding, and everything photographs wonderfully because it has all been planned and laid out neatly according to a colour palette and visual theme. No more random style choices spilling across your wedding day and just getting 'so-so' photos :) As a photographer, I find that brides who have done their homework and made inspiration boards, and ensured that all their purchases, choices, and designs for their wedding day always fit and tie back into their theme/inspiration board, always get the prettiest (and I mean PRETTIEST!!) photos at the end of the day. And who doesn't want that? :)

So, as a little treat for all of you this monday, to brighten up your screens, and to inspire you brides out there a little, I've decided to post up this sweet little inspiration board put together by my FABULOUS sister, Jillian :) She has always has the most amazing eye for detail, colour, and layout (she was already picking out clothes for me when she was just 12) and she loves weddings and photos as much as I do :) I personally think she did a fabulous job on her first ever Inspiration Board - and get this... she is only 14 years old :) Yes, that's right 14 :)

The below mood board, was inspired by the sweet and warm colours of summer. Think pink guava juice, beautiful sunny flowers, orange and pink hues in the sunsets, and golden sand on the beach. Who doesn't love summer and all its honeyed goodness :)

(you can click the above to see a larger version)

Brides, some tips when doing up your own Inspiration boards:
- I dare you to not think of just 1 colour, but 2, or 3, or even 4 like the one above. You'll be suprised how beautiful some shades can look together with a bit of experimentation!
- As mentioned in last week's post, a well executed theme will be carried ALL THROUGHOUT the wedding (that means, your place cards, your invitations, your menu design, your flowers, your cake design, your table linen/cloth colours!!, your napkin and plate colours!!, your seating plan design, your favours and favour tags/boxes, your signage, your dress STYLE, your shoe colour!, and so much more! The more we see your theme in your wedding, the better it will show in your photos :) )
- Style boards work JUST AS WELL for your engagement/pre-wedding shoots!! :D My favourite shoots to date have been styled so beautifully. Remember Joe and Vivian's shoot? Check it out here to see what I mean by a beautifully styled shoot :) Or check out a sneak peek from the latest shoot I did just this morning which I personally styled myself from an inspiration board that was inspired from the colours apple green/brown/peach/pink:

Please let us know if you like what you see above! - if so, you may even see more of these creative little mood boards on the blog in the near future to help inspire you brides out there to plan fabulously, beautifully, and have some gorgeous pictures as a result of it! :D

Have a wonderful week ahead people!!

Remember, we have some special announcements this week so stay tuned to this blog space as well as our facebook page for all the latest goss and sneak peeks from shoots! :D

Midnight cravings

I am not a sweet tooth. Really. I'm the kind of girl who craves french fries, deep fried chicken, burgers.... you get the drift.

But when I opened up my fridge recently, I think I might have to re-consider my statement. Look what I found!!

That's right! There was not 1, not 2, not even 3, but 5... FIVE !!! tubs of Haagen Dazs ice cream. I have to admit, even though I am not the kind of girl who salivates at the latest cake creation, or drools over the pretty new pastries sitting in the local bakery, I do have a very soft spot for Haagen Dazs ice cream, so much so that I can't bear to have less than 2 tubs in my freezer. Above are my favourite flavours! And they happily take their turn in making an appearance when I am staying up to edit late at night, or just want a bang of heavenly goodness on my tongue to brighten up my day :)

And lastly, here is a dirty little secret - I can, and HAVE eaten haagen dazs ice cream first thing in the morning, and in the afternoon at lunch time, and at night in replacement for dinner (not all in the same day of course! I'm crazy, but not THAT crazy :P ).

Who says we have to wait until dessert to enjoy ice cream as good as this?? :) Hands up if you agree! ;)

With love, from the non -sweet toothed photographer :P
xx

Jenny

ps: Next week I will be back with a tonne of special things and announcements so stay tuned!!

Here's something sweet, simple, and oozing with amiable and palpable love to brighten up your wednesday :)

Meet the beautiful Emma and Tristan. Two of the kindest, nicest people I have had the pleasure of having in front of my camera! I'll save their story and write up for their wedding as it is literally around the corner! I can't wait to photograph them tie the knot - looking at these images, I hope you understand why :)

Thank you for such a gorgeous afternoon, you two :)

Vintage Chic Garden Wedding: Denise and Alex

Now, the quote above was never mentioned or read at their wedding, but I honestly do think of these two when the words of this quote meet my eyes. There is a layer of innocent sweetness, that just oozes out and resonates through and through with what Pooh and Piglet say to each other. And Denise and Alex, echoed and chimed the same kind of feeling when I watched them pledge their forevers to each other, and promise their hearts til their last breath.

They way they looked at each other in quiet appreciation, and loving kindness, it was evident that these two loved each other with roots of friendship, mutual respect, and citadel-strong foundations of deep affection. Even then, I don't think I have quite aptly described just how special it was to see these two together...sometimes you can't quite put your finger on it, or pair it with the right words, but when you see two people who share a rich affinity with one another, you just know... it really feels not just like a union of two lovers, but also a union of kindred spirits. And that, I can honestly say is something incredibly special.

Thank you for inviting me into your lives, Alex and Denise. It really was an honor to watch you two get married. My only hope is that every couple loves and appreciates each other as much as I saw in the both of you that day :)

Enjoy my favourite frames from their intimate garden wedding! I loved the fact that Denise styled it to look so elegant, chic, and vintage! Your taste is divine, Denise! :D

Denise and Alex opted to see each other before the ceremony, for a First Look :) I think that is so sweet!! I adored the moment captured...it's something that you just don't get at the ceremony with all the nerves and people watching :)

Then it was off for some quick portraits around the Gunners Barracks Tea Room before the ceremony started :) It was raining that day, by the way.

Denise, you are style epitomized. Really :)

Then it was time for the ceremony at twilight, outdoors :)

Pretty pretty details :)

I don't normally post cake cutting shots, but I really love the laughter here! :D

First dance under the fairylights...

The view of the harbour at night. I don't know why, but I liked the lone boat :-)

Happy Tuesday peeps!
