A big hi and hello to all of you out there! Thank you for stopping by Jenny Sun Photography's blog! This is my brand new blog space! So please make yourself at home, and have a good browse around. There is plenty more to come so check back often :) Just in case any of you are wondering who on earth I am, my name is Jenny Sun. I own a photography company that spans across Australia and Malaysia, particularly in the Sydney and Kuala Lumpur regions respectively. Though I'm not restricted to those areas! :) I love photographing just about anything under the sun, but my particular passion is for weddings and portraits - I seriously LOVE people, their stories, the beautiful relationships formed, and the tales that are told when that shutter goes off!

This blog is my personal and visual journey along this path of photography. Please hop on board the ride, comment along the way (I shamelessly love comments!), and lets see where the wind takes us :)

Who wants more to this peak??

Just a little teaser to the wedding I shot over the weekend :)

Will hopefully be blogging about it in the next few days sometime, in between my over-my-head-so-insanely-packed schedule for the next two weeks!!

Off to bed now, because I have to get up tomorrow at 7am for an e-session in Melbourne!

Melissa and Marcus: Engagement

The day when Melissa rang my number, like many other brides, she asked if I was available on her big day to capture those moments that would be precious to her heart on such an occasion. The sad news was, that I wasn't :( I distinctly remember my heart sinking and feeling sad... I always tell brides that I find it incredibly difficult to say no, or tell them that I cannot share their big day with them. Because I know what an honor it is to be chosen. It's even harder when I sense a bride is as bubbly over email as she would be in person. And Melissa was one such bride.

So, I was incredibly stoked when she had decided she would love to do her engagement session with me!! I always love it when brides whose wedding day I cannot share, say to me they would love to share their engagement/pre-wedding session with me because it still gives me a chance to get to know them, discover what they are like as a couple, how they love each other, and chat endlessly about the lovely details they have planned for their big day. I guess I'm a real girls girl :)

Anyhow, Melissa and Marcus spent a chilly afternoon with me (we were constantly swapping between wearing the coats and not wearing the coats! haha) to get some of the following shots which ended up being some of my favourites from the day. Melissa and Marcus! have a beautiful wedding, and I say it again - you are NOT out of shape AT ALL ;) Thank you for allowing me to document part of your relationship in Sydney, even though I could not share the big day with you in KL. Regardless, I know it will be fantastic!

And here is that photo that I just love to bits :) Thank you Melissa and Marcus for being so awesome in getting it perfect in less than 10 seconds before any security had any chance to come and chase us away... haha!

Because Melissa and Marcus are getting married in Malaysia, they wanted to get some Sydney icons in the photos. Here's one :) You can find the other one at the end of the post.

Then we went for some night shots after the sun went down.

A lot of people like to shoot in this red telephone booth during the day, but for some reason I love it at night :)

And here is a slightly different take on the Sydney Harbour Bridge type shot :) You know it's there, but its not in your face like a postcard ;)

Loren and Josh: Engagement

He took her, hand in hand, and led her up to the highest point that iron coathanger could reach. Then, right at the point where the harbour unfolded in complete jaw dropping expanse below them, Josh lowered himself on bended knee and asked his sweetheart of 10 years to no longer walk hand in hand with him as boyfriend and girlfriend, but walk hand in hand with him as his wife for the rest of his days. They had been sweethearts for 10 years. Thats one entire decade. Relationships that bind and hold together for that long and with solidity are rare in today's reality. However for Loren and Josh, their story sings a different song to many in the rest of the world who like to change partners as often as they change their socks.

Loren and Josh spent one lovely afternoon with me just a moments footstep away from the very place their hearts began their promised journey as husband and wife to be. And they photographed so well that we wrapped up the session in just under an hour when normally it takes two! Thank you so much Loren and Josh for such a beautiful time out together and for letting me capture your gorgeous faces in front of my camera! I can't wait for your wedding in just a few short weeks! I know its going to be amazing :)

Here are some of my favourite shots grabbed from their session! There were plenty plenty more, but I won't overload you :)

Apologies that there is no slideshow with this and the next post. I'm currently travelling and shooting almost every single day so just bear with me :) Many thanks!!

You Make It Real For Me

Every now and again, words float across my ears, and they hit me like a flood that has run right through my entire body. You don't leave the experience unchanged or unmoved.

That is how this next piece of lyrical and melodic genius moved me.

For those who have someone in their life who has changed your whole world...and you are better because of it, this song is perfect for you. I can't think of a song that could better sum up how that feels. Its a feeling of wholeness, belonging. They make your life brighter, stronger. They make it real.

I absolutely positively adore this song, and I'll definitely be using it for a future wedding slideshow :)

Hope you enjoy it as much as I have :) It's more than worth the 3 minutes it was created for.

James Morrison - You Make It Real
There's so much craziness surrounding me
There's so much going on it gets hard to breathe
All my faith has gone you bring it back to me
You make it real for me
Well I'm not sure of my priorities
I've lost site of where I'm meant to be
And like holy water washing over me

You make it real for me
And I'm running to you baby
You are the only one who save me
That's whyy I've been missing you lately
Cause you make it real for me

When my head is strong but my heart is weak
I'm full of arrogance and uncertainty
But I can find the words
You teach my heart to speak

You make it real for me yea
And i'm running to you baby
You are the only one who save me
That's why I've been missing you lately
Cause you make it real for me

Everybody's talking in words
I don't understand
You got to be the only one
Who knows just who I am
And you shine in the distance
I hope I can make it through
Cause the only place
That I want to be
Is right back home with you

I guess there's so much more
I have to learn
But if you're here with me
I know which way to turn
You always give me somewhere,
Somewhere I can learn

You make it real for me
And i'm running to you baby
Cause you are the only one who save me
That's why I've been missing you lately
Cause you make it real for me
You make it real for me .

ps: Posts with pictures coming right up :)

Gwen and Mau: Wedding

"The sms professing my feelings for her was meant to go to another friend" He explained. Mau was apparently sharing with another friend how he felt about Gwen, but in his excitement... or nervousness... it ended up on the phone of the girl he was speaking about... who later, would become the girl he would fall in love with... and who after that, would become the woman he would marry. It's funny how serendipity plays her games.

For days upon days, the sky had opened up its mouth and cried an outpour of rain, saturating the land below it in its grey and wet blanket. The sun had been a rare sight, and so was the blue in the heavenly scape. However, on the day that Gwen decided to celebrate her love for Mau, the celestial golden star broke through the expanse of cement grey, gracing the day with a warm pleasantness and drying up the raindrops that had soaked the earth while the happy bride was delicately sipping her bowl of porridge and giggling with her girlfriends - who were sitting watching their friend transform. In just a few short moments, Gwen was going to look into the eyes of the man that she would be spending the rest of her life with. And the excitement showed :)

On a day that was filled with bucketloads of laughter, hugs, warmth, and merriment, Gwen and Mau were married, sharing their union with their friends and family in the same warmth and merriment that marked their special date.

Thank you Gwen and Mau for letting me be part of your big day! It was an honor to be part of such a beautiful celebration, and I only wish the best for your marriage ahead. I hope you are having the most romantic and wonderful time in Italy right now, sitting in a Gondola, and chowing down on some famous Italian gourmet while you are at it :)

Here are some of my favourite pictures from their big day! Its a whopping huge post to make up for the delay in getting these images up, so sit back and enjoy!

I have to give credit to Gwen's dad for the following shots of the dress. You see, I wasn't tall enough to get up and put it on the ledge...and when I finally did get up there, the hook of the hanger wasn't staying on the ledge. So Gwen's dad was awesome enough to find me a new hook to hang the dress off. It made the next two shots possible. Thank you Mr Chan! :)

There was something unveiled for the games/trials for the boys when they arrived. It's WAY too disgusting to show you here on this blog space so you will just have to watch the slideshow to see what it was! haha :)

But here are the reactions to it when they were seen by people:

Here's a sneak peak to what it is!

And the reactions after to it being consumed!!

More games and humiliation! :p Mau was a great sport though and went through everything with a good laugh!

Mau finally gets his wife :)

Tea ceremony! :)

Then at the groom's place for his tea ceremony:

Gwen and Mau celebrated their wedding, with their reception at KL Hilton. Their decor and style was AMAZING! I LOOOOOVE it when brides have a theme at their wedding, and think about colours right down to the last detail. This was such an example. Check it out!

They even had lighting designed for the ballroom - which was GREAT because of all things when decorating your wedding, lighting is by far the most important. I said at the Signature Photographer's workshop to brides and grooms that you can have the most amazing decor, but if you put it under the wrong light, it will look AWFUL in pictures - which just puts your hard work to waste, doesn't it? Anyway, check out part of what Gwen and Mau did! :)

We then went outside for literally 5 minutes to get the fastest portrait session I've experienced yet! :) Here are some of my faves :)

My fave:

The grand entrance.

More of that awesome lighting design:

Love the reactions to them :)

Gwen and Mau had a very special guest come in to entertain them. She had a gorgeous voice!

A toast to end what was a lovely wedding! Credit goes to my awesome husband, Ju who grabbed the below shot. I love it! :)

Huge thanks to Ju for helping me with this wedding, and to Edwin who also worked hard alongside me on the day :)
